Ways to Engage
"Retreats"
A Retreat is an immersive learning experience for people who want to step away from daily distractions and spend meaningful time with horses in a quiet, natural setting. Retreats are held at BentWire Ranch, our rural property in the Juniper forests of the Maury Mountains in Crook County, Oregon. Depending on the offering, a Retreat may last from 1 to 3 days.
Unlike a Workshop, which is primarily classroom-style learning, or a Clinic, which often includes a group and a structured teaching format, a Retreat offers a slower, deeper experience. Participants have time to learn, observe, reflect, ask questions, and experience Being Herd & Seen™ in the presence of a living herd.
Retreats may include teaching sessions, guided observation, quiet time with the herd, Horse Speak®, nervous system awareness, simple exercises, discussion, journaling, and practical tools participants can carry home. The focus is not on performance, training, or “fixing” a horse. The focus is on slowing down enough to notice what horses are communicating, how they organize themselves socially, and how our own presence, attention, and emotional state affect the relationship.
A Retreat is a good choice for people who want a more personal and restorative experience, who are drawn to the healing presence of horses, or who want to deepen their understanding of Intentional Horsemanship in a peaceful ranch environment. Accommodations may include dry camping, RV parking, or a small apartment on the property, depending on availability.
Retreats are scheduled well in advance so participants have time to plan their visit and make travel arrangements. Because Retreat offerings may be limited and seasonal, new dates will be posted on the website as they become available.
Attendance is usually limited to 4 persons.
