Learn to read the horses body language though understanding their Sensory World.
Your horse lives in a different world than you do. Come to understand it better.
Objectives:
- Explore how horses perceive the world
- Establish the foundation for sensory empathy
Teaching topics:
- Why is the drive to survive so important, and why that matters?
- Horse vs. human sensory priorities
- Horses live moment to moment- not the future or past

Experiential-
The "Vision Walk"- Using puppet heads, explore:
- blind spots
- depth perception
- restart zones
- Participants partners alternately "be the horse" and navigate obstacles with sensory limitations
Application-
- Field of vision mapping
- Approaching a horse from different angles
- How to avoid triggering the startle reflex
Reflection-
"What surprised you about how horses see, hear, smell, taste, and feel the earth?"
Homework: Observe 3 sensory-based behaviors in your horse this week.
Workshop will be held indoors.
